Bruno's back and it's everyone's chance to love on him, now! He needs fed and washed and all manner of happy things, after all. Just be warned, he will wibble and tear up. A lot. He has a lot of catching up to do and a lot of hugging to do....

A2. Angst!
Bruno's back and he's not re-integrating very well. Ten years in the walls has not been kind to him, after all. Maybe he has it out with the others, or he tries to hide again, or starts some unhealthy coping or other. Maybe his Gift finally destroyed his health.

A3. H/C!
Bruno's back and other people are not happy about this fact. There may be, for example, an increasing belief that he's demonic and clearly in need of an exorcism.

Welcome to the Family Madrigal! Somehow Doña Alma managed to finally marry off her son. But it's not her you have to worry about, it's his sisters and his brothers-in-law and all their wink-wink-nudge-nudge.

[It's slow going, but they manage it, and he doesn't stumble nearly as much. He seems more exhausted than anything else, now.]

Not as... bad as I was....

[That's not really saying much. They make their way home, up the hill, a walk he usually makes with no trouble. This time, though, he has to stop a few times, wheezing. He's leaning heavily against her by the time they get inside. Alas, Casita can only do so much to aid their progress, but it flips the stairs so that they can't climb them and opens the door to a parlour which has the advantage of being on the ground floor, and of having a very inviting-looking squashy sofa.

The sofa is perfect and when they get there Bruno drops himself onto it with an exhausted groan, flopped bonelessly on the cushions with one arm over his eyes. After a beat he moves the arm and looks up at her.]

Sorry you had to see that. Sometimes... it doesn't take much to bring out the... worst in people.

[nonmagical]

[Mirabel just shakes her head.]

You don't have to apologize for... that. They never should have hurt you. I hope tía Pepa lights their hair on fire after all that-

[She lets out a sigh. As much as Mirabel wanted to do something, she was kind of helpless during it all. Knowing Bruno is probably not going to move from his spot on the couch, she goes and fetches a soft blanket.]

[She covers him with it.]

[Bruno chuckles at that before his breath catches and he coughs a few times.] She probably will. She's always been a terror when her dander's up.... [Often to protect him, he reflects.]

[He murmurs his thanks when she drapes the blanket over him, then looks up at her.] 'F'you don't mind, could you stay here for a bit? [His gaze drops.] I don't think I wanna be alone.

[nonmagical]

I'm not going anywhere.

[Partly because he asked her to stay, the other part because she's afraid to leave him alone. Yes, they're safe in Casita but... well, seeing what happened to him scared her. She didn't know people could that be cruel - especially to someone as kind and gentle as him.]

This will never happen again, okay? We'll... we'll make sure of it.

[That beating he took was healed for the most part, but Julieta's magic can only do so much for someone in his condition--ten years of self-imposed imprisonment does a lot of damage, after all, and it'll take quite some time to recover from.

He's weary and vaguely ill-feeling, a residual ache rolling aimlessly about in his back and his limbs, but it's no match for his curiosity.]

If there's anyone who could, it's you. Got a plan?

[nonmagical]

[She wants to say she'll start going with him into town, but honestly? She's not much of a bodyguard. Today proved as much.]

I'll change their minds. I'll make them stop.

[She's... not sure how yet. But she's a teenager and doesn't understand the years of animosity the town had towards Bruno. One teenager girl probably wouldn't change that. But she'd try.]

And maybe... Pepa should go into town with you?

[Another laugh, another bout of coughing. He rubs a hand against his chest.] Nah, she's got enough on her plate without having to babysit her little brother. I just gotta be a bit... harder to find.

[That's always been Bruno's solution--make himself scarce or, at least, too small to be seen. He's only five foot four and he hunches as though he's taking up too much space.

After a beat, though, his smile goes tender.] Then again, maybe you can change their minds. You're good at that, you know.
